Step-by-Step Process

Prepare Your Manuscript

Begin with a clean Word document. Remove extra spaces, use consistent headings (e.g., Chapter 1 as Heading 1), and choose a standard font like Times New Roman or Garamond (12pt for print, 10–11pt for eBook readability).

Always create a backup before formatting.

Set Margins and Layout

Print PDF: Use 1-inch margins on all sides, with a 0.125-inch bleed for printing (such as through IngramSpark). Set the page size to 6×9 inches, which is standard for trade paperbacks.
